Nitin Paranjpe is CEO & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and Executive Vice President of Unilever companies in South Asia, since April 2008.
Born in 1963, he did his BE (Mechanical) from College of Engineering Pune and M.B.A. in Marketing (Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies), and joined HUL (then Hindustan Lever Limited) as a Management Trainee in 1987.
In his early years in the Company, Nitin worked as Area Sales Manager – Detergents and then Product Manager – Detergents. In 1996, he was appointed Branch Manager for the South Branch, and in 1999, as a member of the Project Millennium Team.
In 2000, he moved to Unilever headquarters in London and was involved in a review of the Organisational Structure. During 2001, he was Assistant to the Unilever Chairman & Executive Committee in London. On his return to HUL in 2002, he became the Category Head-Fabric Wash & Regional Brand Director (Asia) for some Laundry and Household Cleaning brands. In 2004, he became Vice President - Home Care (Laundry & Household Care) India, responsible for the top and bottom line of the Home Care business. From March 2006 to March 2008, he was the Executive Director for the Home & Personal Care business.
He is on the Managing Committees of industry associations such as Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM); Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI), where he was the President.
He is a member on the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, (Chandigarh). He is also a Member of the General Committee of the Breach Candy Hospital Trust.
Nitin is married and has two children. He is a keen sportsman, and enjoys an occasional game of squash and a short jog.
