Meenakshi Lekhi is a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from New Delhi constituency. She is the national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party and a Supreme Court of India lawyer. Meenakshi Lekhi won the high profile New Delhi parliamentary constituency with over 4.5 lakh votes as a BJP candidate in the 2014 elections. Besides numerous articles in journals, periodicals and newspapers on social issues, she participates in various television shows on matters on national and international importance. Meenakshi Lekhi has argued a wide variety of matters in Indian courts such as bails, revisions, trials, appeals, criminal writs, murder references, Prevention of Corruption Act/Official Secrets Act/Customs Act/FERA prosecutions, domestic violence and family law disputes. She has been a part of the Drafting Committees for Bills like 'Women's Reservation Bill' and 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill'. The latter was passed by the Parliament as an Act in 2013. Meenakshi Lekhi represented the media in court to get the ban on media coverage of case proceedings revoked. She was successful in this effort. She took up the case of permanent commissioning of women in the Indian armed forces in the Supreme Court. Meenakshi Lekhi was also the lawyer of the victim in the Shanti Mukund Hospital rape case. Meenakshi Lekhi has been a member of the National Commission for Women's special committee, Chairperson of the Special Task Force on Women Empowerment, Vice Chairperson of JPM, Blind School (New Delhi) and Joint Secretary of the Blind Relief Association, Delhi.

He has previously held many high profile positions, some key assignments undertaken are Principal Secretary Industries / Addl. Chief Secretary Industries, State Enterprises and NRIs Deptt., Government of Rajasthan; RIICO, Chairman and Managing Director; Indian Airlines Limited, Joint Secretary; Ministry of Civil Aviation, Director- Banking Division; Ministry of Finance and many more. Under Mr. Arora's leadership Indian Airlines Steadily improved as a result of which the airline bounced back from losses of Rs.247 crores in 2001-04 to an operating profit of Rs.125 crores and a net profit after tax of Rs.44 crores. This was despite the steep hike in aviation turbine fuel prices at that time. The revenues of the Airline went up from Rs.3700 Crore in the year 2001-02 to Rs.5100 Crore in 2005. He also increased the aircraft utilization, introduced new safety measures, special skill training for all staff, explored new business models and drastically improved passenger perceptions, brand perception and trust. As the Collector and District Magistrate, Jodhpur, he was awarded the State Merit Certificate in 1993 for all round progress and development of Jodhpur District. As Secretary, Department of Tourism, Art and Culture, from 1996 to 1998, was instrumental in positioning Rajasthan globally as a premier tourist destination in India, during the concurrent tenure.
