Broadcast across Borders

News Next aims to explore the role of news broadcasters in supporting cross border trade & cross cultural influences in a transparent, technology enabled world. Global networks help construct an image of the home country across the world but are not insular to promoter led/Government backed editorial stance , cultural influences and individual values in their reportage. Unlike the west and now Russia, China & Africa, India lacks a Global network that offers an India perspective to the International audiences. This is important in its affect on public finances, security and political stability especially through sensitive borders. On the flip side India has a large number of domestic channels with similar cultural and value influences but Individual editorial biases affect news coverage and projection of India across the world. Further, In the absence of homogenised news reportage, consumers have an opportunity to increasingly pick stories across various digital media and further decrease the dependence on individual broadcast editor picks. These are some pertinent issues of the Broadcast news media that News Next 2016 hopes to raise.
